Fun: Day 16: Rainbow and Me

Day 16:
For today’s prompt, write a snapshot poem. When I think of snapshot, I think of a photograph or painting still life. The poem would bring this particular moment to life. However, if you have another interpretation, I encourage you to follow your muse. (

Rainbow and Me

When you’re little
And your grandparents take you somewhere
You’ve never ever been before

You always remember it
Especially if you have a picture
And you’re being held
By a teenage American Indian
Who scooped you up
Into his arms

So the grandparents
Could have you say, “Cheese.”

(Author’s Note:  See how cute I was at age 8? The poem I wrote refers to this photo, which was taken in 1970 when my maternal grandparents took me to Cherokee, North Carolina.)
