Fun: Day 16: Rainbow and Me

Standard

Day 16:
For today’s prompt, write a snapshot poem. When I think of snapshot, I think of a photograph or painting still life. The poem would bring this particular moment to life. However, if you have another interpretation, I encourage you to follow your muse. (poeticasides.org)

Rainbow and Me

When you’re little
And your grandparents take you somewhere
You’ve never ever been before

You always remember it
Especially if you have a picture
And you’re being held
By a teenage American Indian
Who scooped you up
Into his arms

So the grandparents
Could have you say, “Cheese.”

(Author’s Note:  See how cute I was at age 8? The poem I wrote refers to this photo, which was taken in 1970 when my maternal grandparents took me to Cherokee, North Carolina.)
